Blown Away

Well I hope he doesn't blow away, although I worry at times. Yes, that is a picture of my husband 250 feet up in the air on top a wind turbine. He assures me that he is tied on to something so that he will not blow away. He had to climb a ladder to the top and of course loved it. He even bought a fanny pack that holds snacks and water bottles. He would have made a great boy scout seeing as he is always prepared. He is taking a course on wind energy and this was one of their field trips. Today they went out and saw some turbines that were even bigger. That is what he has been up to...literally.

And We're Back!

Look how strong I am

Whew...Brady and I have been on the road for the past week. Weekend before last we decided to take an impromptu trip to see Meme and go to my Great-Uncle Chester's 90th birthday party. While we were there we got to send some time with Aunt Brend, Uncle Frankie, cousin Brandon and his son Brayden. Try saying Brenda, Brandon, Brayden, Brady five times fast. No one was called the right name the entire day. Actually, when Aunt Mary came over to visit she decided to just call Brady by his middle name, Cole. If you know Aunt Mary you understand why she has the authority to do this. Then on Sunday we went to uncle Chester's party. While there we were able to meet up with several other sets of cousins that we usually only get to see at Easter every year, so it was good to see everyone.
Brady and Aunt Brend-yes I know we look just a like

More cousins at Uncle Chester's party. Notice the big kids in the back with no heads...sorry Christopher, Alex and Bennett

We got back home on Monday and I had to go back to work for a day to finish everything up for the year and Brady got to help. We then packed back up and headed to Midland to hang out with Mom-mom and Richard (we are still trying out some names for Dad). We only got to see Aunt Lindsey for a little bit since she and Travis were headed out of town for the weekend. I had planned to spend some time out by the pool, but of course it rained the whole time. The only time it rains in the desert is when I want to go hang out by the pool. The rain was good though, and we went shopping to fill the time. Mom-mom was a lot of help! Mom even through Brady a 3 month birthday party and invited some friends over for fajitas and cobbler. Why is the food always better when you go home? Dad also helped with the kids state fishing tournament this past weekend and has decided that when Brady turns three he will start fishing competitively and they will kick every one's rears. I do not doubt it!

mmm looks good enough to eat...or at least drool on

Brady also went to his first birthday party. It was a party for 5 of our friends, ranging in age from 7 to 1. I think it will be the only Texas Longhorn, rocket ship, butterfly,John Deere, and flamingo themed birthday party ever. It was a lot of fun and we were able to see some of our good friends and have lots of cake. Yes, there was a different cake for every theme!

Now we are back home and Brady and I have been very busy around the house. I have gone through my closet and drawers, and now have a guest closet full of clothes to get rid of. I plan on packing all of Brady's clothes that he has grown out of into vacuum seal bags this week as well. He is already moving on out of his 6th month clothes and is headed full steam ahead into 9 moths. He is just too tall for his clothes...that and they don't always make the thigh holes big enough for a man of his stature :)

Daniel is taking a course at TSTC to learn about wind turbines. He is really enjoying it and has something new to share with me every night. Besides that, we are just trying to get some things done around the house. Sometimes Brady is not the best helper, but we are trying to work around that. Hope everyone is having a great week!

A conversation with Brady

ME: hello baby

Brady: all smiles "hello mommy"

Me: Is it so hard being such a cute baby?

Brady: Mom, I'm a man

Me: kissing him all over

Brady: Mom, enough with the sugars, I am a man. Men can't have their moms stealing all their sugars

Me: oh my sweet baby

Brady: You put all that good smelling stuff on me so I have to spit up and poop all over myself so I can smell like a man

Me: ok, lets get you all changed up sweet baby

Brady: Moooom, I am a man. I will do what I want, when I want. Now if you will kindly wipe my bottom.

There were two in the bed and the little one said...

ROLL OVER! That is right Brady rolled over this weekend while we were up at the farm. He does it all the time now, but sometimes he gets his arm stuck underneath him and he doesn't like that at all. He also tends to rub is face all into the ground and doesn't like that either, yet he continues to try and roll over anytime he is on the floor.

We went to the farm this weekend and we brought rain with us. You would think that rain is good for farmers, but it is not good when they are trying to get their crop out. We did get to spend some time with the whole family though since they were rained out. Brady has become quite the mommas boy. And although I should be flattered that my child is attached to me, it is not nice when he will not let his grandparents hold him without throwing a fit. It is just poor manners. So, I do not know how, but we will be working on our manners this week. We have a party to go to in a couple of weeks and he is going to have to act better than he did this weekend, i mean, there are a lot of people that want to see him and hold him and it will be no fun if he is so grumpy about it. Overall we did have a great time hanging out with Grandma and Papaw as usual. I hope the weather cooperates for them this week.
That is all from here right now, have a good week!

Take your child to work day

I am fortunate enough to have a job that I can occasionally take Brady with me to work. The past couple of days have been those kind of days. My cubicle looked like babiesrus threw up in it will all the baby paraphernalia including: diaper bag, boppy, bumbo, sling, bouncer and various blankets. Who new something so small would need so much. For the record he does not need all these things, I do, to make sure he is happy throughout the day. At home we don't even use all this stuff during the day, but in a office full of people who are trying to work, the happier (and quieter) the baby, the better. Also, all the ladies at work love to hold him too, so do not worry, he is still getting plenty of attention. Heaven forbid he not be entertained and happy! So this is what Brady on the job looks like

He is a regular ol' workin' man. He sat up beside me next to the computer and helped me write reports. He really was such a good boy the whole time. This afternoon he went to our friend Aunt Jessica's and tried to wear her out. He sometimes gets a little fussier in the afternoons so I think he showed her how good his lungs are for a little bit. Sorry Jess, I know you did great with him.

Harvest has begun so we will be up at the farm this weekend possibly. We are going to have to find a way to put a car seat in the combine...I think it will be good bonding for Daniel and Brady, we will see if they agree with me. Until harvest is done I am officially a harvest widow and Brady and I are on our own. We have had so much help this past month while I have been finishing up work. Aunt Lindsey was a real trooper and when she couldn't be here Mom mom filled in. I do not know how single mom's do this job, and twins would be a nightmare (no offense Katie)! Hope all is well. I am off to hold the baby now.
